What is LED?

LED (Light Emitting Diode) are semiconductor devices that produce visible light when an electrical current is passed through them. LED lighting can be more efficient, durable, versatile and longer lasting products use light emitting diodes to produce light very efficiently. LEDs typically do not “burn out” or fail . Instead, they experience lumen depreciation, where the amount of light produced decreases and light color appearance can shift over time.

What is RGB

It refers to the three hues of light ( red, green and blue) that mix together to form any color, when the highest intensity of each color is mixed together.

What is DRL

DRL is an automotive lighting device on the front of a road going motor vehicle, automatically switched on when the vehicle is moving forward , emitting white, yellow, or amber light to increase the visibility of the vehicle during daylight conditions.

What is FESTOON LIGHT?

A light suspended between two points. (mostly known as dome lights)

What is HID?

HID (HIGH INTENSITY DISCHARGE ) are a type of electrical gas-discharge lamp which produces light by means of an electric arc between tungsten electrodes housed inside a translucent or transparent fused quartz or fused alumina arc tube. This tube is filled with both gas and metal salts. The gas facilitates the arc's initial strike. Once the arc is started, it heats and evaporates the metal salts forming plasma, which greatly increases the intensity of light produced by the arc and reduces its power consumption. High-intensity discharge lamps are a type ofarc lamp.

High-intensity discharge lamps make more visible light per unit of electric power consumed than fluorescent and incandescent lamps since a greater proportion of their radiation is visible light in contrast to infrared.

What is Ballast?

The hid ballast itself works to limit the amount of electrical current that is distributed to the circuit. The Hid ballast is used in conjunction with an inductor to enable proper starting and operating functions in the electrical circuit. The type of Hid ballast used will determine the amount of power that output from the lamp bulb.

What is Canbus?

CANBUS (error free) The canbus error free bulbs will have a resistor built in to simulate a filament bulb load and trick the car into not throwing up an error.

LEDs only use around 20% of the power of a filament bulb, thus when they are fitted the car thinks the bulb is out/about to blow.

To get around this, some LEDs have resistors fitted which effectively burn up the other 80% so that the car thinks a standard bulb is fitted.

What is SMD?

SMD (surface mount device) it is a led which is welded and installed on the circuit board. It has no leads which go through pcb holes, or wires can be soldered to the pcb-less use. It only has terminals on the end solder to PCB pads set up for it.

What is Domelight?

a small light under the roof of an automobile or boat.

What is LED strips?

LED strip lighting is a type of light that is made up of a series of LEDs set into a strip that is then affixed to a surface. An LED is a light emitting diode, and they are known for the bright light they produce as well as the different colours of light that you can get. They are also very energy efficient. LED lights, and LED strip lighting, are popular because they last for thousands of hours of use, so they never need replacing.
